OUR WORK

Check out what we are doing in more depth and come along to show your support.

EarthSonic is a global project devised by non-profit organisation In Place of War. EarthSonic tells the story of climate change and brings together a diverse range of people - from musicians to scientists, climate activists and indigenous communities - all with the goal of mobilising and unifying a global movement of positive action.

EarthSonic will engage young people and communities across the world via a record label with a roster of artists collaborating with the sounds of climate change; through live streamed concerts from disappearing spaces; education projects; and advocacy.

Below you can see the 3 pillars of activities which form part of EarthSonic, as well as meet the team behind all our work.

Projects & Events

Projects

Over the next few years, EarthSonic will launch various initiatives combining music and creativity to address the climate crisis. Partnering with global organisations and communities, we will feature high-profile artists, producers and indigenous artists. The goal is to build a worldwide community committed to tackling the climate crisis through art, fostering global awareness and action.

Live

EarthSonic Live will feature groundbreaking events combining music-making and climate activism, showing how individuals can collaborate with nature to tell our planet’s stories. Through music industry events, EarthSonic Live aims to highlight the deep connection between music and environmental stewardship, inspiring people to unite in narrating the compelling stories of our world.

Monthly Climate Drop-in

A series of engaging online events connecting a global audience committed to addressing the climate crisis through the arts. Hosted by experts from our advisory boards, each session covers topics such as climate anxiety, music’s role in climate action, and youth engagement. These events will feature impactful stories and foster community building.

Music & Sound

Record Label

An international label platform releasing new music from artists participating in upcoming EarthSonic projects. Our intention is to create the world’s first carbon free record label by 2026, powered by geothermal technology.

We’ll soon be listening to sounds under the themes of Earth, Water, Air, Fire, Extinction, Humanity and Waste. Each release will celebrate international collaborations and aim to raise awareness of environmental issues around the globe.

Our first release will be announced soon. Keep informed via our newsletter and socials.

Sound Archive

The EarthSonic Archive captures global sounds of the planet and climate change, recorded by scientists, nature sound recordists, indigenous communities and others. Our curated sound banks provide a glimpse into this collection.

Leading musicians will rework some of these sounds, such as whale songs, receding glaciers, and recordings of extinct species, into music to inspire a global audience.

We will also establish a fund to support indigenous communities and sound recordists, creating opportunities for young people worldwide to engage with nature sound recording and contribute to our archive.

Education
& Advocacy

Education, advocacy and youth empowerment through our 100 Creative Agents of Climate Change online residency programme (2024-2028), building on our Gulbenkian Civic Arts Prize winning programme in 2022, aiming to impact thousands of young people and engage them in the movement.

100 Creative Agents of Climate Change is an exciting art and activism project designed for young people passionate about mobilising their communities to combat climate change.
