Alejandro Valencia-Tobon

Alejandro Valencia-Tobon works at the intersections of public art and biological science, developing socially-engaged projects in Colombia, described by French curator Annick Bureaud as ‘playful chimeras’. I also establish productive convergence across different forms of information (visual, textual, sonic) and various artistic and scientific fields of practice, by converting the sound signals of frogs, bats or birds into forest compositions. My work has been featured at Open Eye Gallery; Inter-American Development Bank; Museum of Science and History, ISEA—International Symposium on Electronic Art; Horniman Museum; and Miami Science Museum.
